She is a retiree of Atlanta Public Schools (28 years). She loves spending time with family and friends, and rarely meets a stranger. Howanda Walker (Volunteer of the Month) – Howanda is a native Floridian. She moved to Atlanta in 1974. Howanda was employed by AT&T for 30 years. She is a member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
Howanda enjoys bowling, relaxing at a cabin in the mountains, walking along the beach and hearing the sounds of the waves from the ocean, and, listening to music.
Howanda is the sister of MOM Foundation, Inc.’s Vice President – Gloria Walker. Their mom passed away in 2013. Being a volunteer with the MOM Foundation, Inc. has been a blessing and a comfort for Howanda and Gloria – just seeing the smiles on the mothers’ faces is a form of healing.
It is Howanda’s prayer that God will continue to bless the Foundation, the members and volunteers, sponsors, and especially the Mothers who are served.
Howanda proudly supports the Miami Dolphins and the University of Florida Gators football teams.
